What is a Diesel Particulate Filter?
A Diesel Particulate Filter is a device fitted to most modern diesel engine cars and vans that is deisgned to remove diesel particulate
matter, or soot, from the exhaust gas emitted by the vehicle. Some DPFs are designed to be used only once, needing replacement
when they are full. Other Diesel Particulate Filters are designed to burn off the gathered particulates with the use of a catalyst or by
running an in-built engine program, when required, that injects extra fuel into the combustion process thus causing the exhaust
temperature to increase and reach a level that incinerates the trapped soot in the filter
What are the benefits of Diesel Particulate Filter removal?
With the DPF removed from your vehicle, not only are you eliminating the possibility of the filter becoming blocked resulting in a potentially
hefty replacement cost, but you will experience greater fuel economy along with better engine performance from your vehicle.
This is because the build up of exhaust pressure on your engine is reduced and allows the engine to work under less strain,
requiring less power and fuel.
How do I know if my DPF is blocked?
If the DPF is beginning to block, and not performing to its required level, the performance of the vehicle begins to suffer. As exhaust pressure
builds the engine will attempt to work harder, fighting against the restricted flow, resulting in lower fuel efficiency, loss of engine power and
eventually complete engine failure. A block will be indicated on the dashboard of your vehicle by a warning light, and perhaps even
an "Air Pollution System" warning in some vehicles.
Diesel Particulate Filter Removal Service
We offer a Diesel Particulate Filter removal service at a very competitive price as an alternative to replacing the blocked or malfunctioning
DPF on your diesel car or van. When we remove the DPF we will also need to remap the ECU to ensure that the engine is aware it no longer has
a Diesel Particulate Filter attached. Instead of a simple engine remap you will also have the opportunity for us to do a more advanced re-configuration
of the ECU, free of charge, to further improve the fuel economy or perhaps boost the engine performance beyond just the benefits of the DPF removal itself.
